Alex Scott's legal practice focuses primarily on coverage issues and disputes, as well as insurance defence litigation. In her coverage practice, she assists primary insurers, excess carriers and reinsurers with respect to commercial general liability, professional errors and omissions liability, directors' and officers' liability, motor vehicle, property and boiler and machinery disputes. She provided insurers with advice regarding business interruption claims during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, and has represented insurers in litigation arising out of such claims. In her civil litigation practice, Alex has considerable experience in occupiers' liability, municipal liability, bar and tavern liability, professional liability and property claims. She also has experience handling subrogated claims. Alex has provided seminars to clients and colleagues on both coverage and defence issues.

Alex graduated with distinction from Brock University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She then attended law school at Queen’s University, where she received her Juris Doctor degree in 2009. While at Queen’s, Alex was awarded the David Sabbath Prize for the highest standing in Tax Theory and Policy and served as a volunteer editor for the Queen’s Law Journal.

Alex was called to the Ontario bar in 2010 and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario. She articled at a mid-size firm in London, Ontario before joining Lloyd Burns McInnis LLP as an associate in 2010.
