John is a founding partner of Lloyd Burns McInnis LLP. John has a broad insurance and civil litigation practice in which he handles a wide range of matters, including subrogation/recovery matters, property claims, construction disputes, product liability claims, environmental claims, professional liability matters, insurance coverage issues, and many other types of claims and risk management issues.

John has handled cases involving infrastructure projects, commercial and industrial construction projects, industrial racking systems, sprinkler systems, public utilities, construction and manufacturing equipment, metal halide lamps, automobile parts, HVAC systems, medical devices, foods and beverages, consumer products, professional errors and omissions, fraud losses, and many other types of cases for clients located in Canada, the United States, and abroad.

In his subrogation/recovery practice, John has recovered tens of millions of dollars for his insurer clients.

John has represented clients at all levels of courts in Ontario, as well as at the Federal Court of Canada.

John received a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in 1999 and a Master of Arts in 2000 from the University of Western Ontario (now Western University). John received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto in 2003 and was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 2004.

John is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Advocates’ Society.
